"The most frequently asked question after our return from South Africa was: whence the idea to do a wedding in South Africa on a lighthouse near Cape Town? I have been at sea for the better part of my life. My partner, who had accompanied me on many a journey around the world, had never been in Cape Town with me. Her only acquaintance with Cape Town was through a letter I had written to her while my ship was leaving Cape Town harbour.

To my surprise, when I asked her to marry me, which she affirmed to my great joy, she spontaneously requested the wedding to take place in Cape Town. The connection to Christiane Verweyen of KapEvent was quickly and effortlessly established and when she learnt that I was a seafarer, she immediately suggested, that we get married in a lighthouse near the Cape of Good Hope point. We were enthusiastic about this idea, because it is a seafarers' dream to get married near the Cape of Good Hope. Even the lighthouse-keeper got himself a new uniform for the occasion.

When we arrived at the trendy small hotel, The Long Beach, the best was awaiting us. The next five days we received five star treatment in this comfortable hotel with its warm and heartfelt service. The wedding speech of Pastor Walter Schwär was well prepared and gave us ample food for thought - many ideas to accompany us on our way together. The remaining days of our honeymoon were planned in minute details by Christiane Verweyen. Everywhere we were warmly received and greeted."
